Project Overview

CORE4 partnered with E. Sam Jones to upgrade outdated gymnasium lighting with a focus on improving visibility, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing maintenance—without disrupting daily athletic training and events.

Challenge

The facility’s existing 4-ft, 6-lamp T8 fixtures consumed high wattage and delivered uneven illumination (around 20–25 footcandles at floor level). CORE4 needed a durable, high-output, energy-efficient lighting system suitable for the rigorous demands of a professional athletic environment.

Solution

E. Sam Jones designed and delivered a turnkey LED lighting retrofit using U.S.-made linear high bays engineered specifically for sports and fitness facilities.

Scope of Work:

  • Replaced legacy T8 fixtures with 2-ft extruded-aluminum LED high bays producing ~24,000 lumens at 154 watts

  • Specified IK10 impact-resistant housings for safety and durability in athletic environments

  • Optimized optics and layout for even, glare-free coverage across courts and training zones

  • Managed procurement, installation, and coordination to ensure minimal downtime
